Captain Tanner began his maritime career right here at Teralani Sailing. Tanner took a break from the beach after accepting an opportunity work as delivery crew for a sailboat from Mexico to French Polynesia and another delivery from French Polynesia to Fiji. Coupled with his experience at Teralani, these experiences provided him with the experience and confidence to return to Maui and get his captain’s license and embark on the next step in his career as a Captain. Captain Tanner enjoys turning off the engines and sailing with Maui’s famous trade winds and seeing the look on guests’ faces returning from their first coral reef snorkeling experience. Captain Tanner can be found on his days off surfing or thinking about surfing.

Growing up in Northern Minnesota spending time on small pontoon boats and canoes, I found love of the water. I was on the swim team, and even though I grew up around lakes I always loved everything marine biology related. I went to college in Minnesota and graduated with a degree in biology with an emphasis on marine biology. After graduation I moved to the Florida Keys for a research internship at the Dolphin Research Center. After Hurricane Irma hit in 2017, I moved to Maui without ever having visited. I began my boating career in 2018 on a boat out of Lahaina Harbor. During six years of work out of Lāhainā Harbor I worked my way up to first mate and I eventually got my captains license in 2022. Starting with Teralani in 2023 as crew and now captain I found my career path. I truly love being on the ocean everyday.

Captain Matt is Teralani’s “As seen on TV” Captain. Arriving on Maui from Muscle Shoals, AL in 1998, “Bama” quickly gravitated to a life on the water. He earned his Captains license after several years as a dive instructor. Sailing off Kaanapali, Matt has been sharing his passion and knowledge of Hawaii’s marine life since early 2000. Sharing dreams on and off the water Matt is helping people move to hawaii as a realtor.

Captain Nick’s love for sailing and marine life has shaped his 6 years of experience in the maritime industry. He learned to sail off the coast of Ka’anapali and has expanded his experience working in the waters in Australia, guiding guests around the Great Barrier Reef. Whether it’s exploring vibrant coral reefs, educating guests about Maui’s marine life, or simply enjoying the beauty of the coastline, Captain Nick brings his enthusiasm for sailing and nature to every trip. His thorough knowledge of local ecosystems ensures each voyage is both educational and thrilling, all while prioritizing safety and fun.

Kamalei Warrington was born and raised on the island of Maui. She began her maritime career with Teralani Sailing in 2024 as crew, and began managing and training crew the following year. Deeply rooted in her connection to the ocean, Kamalei is passionate about sharing her knowledge of Maui’s waters, culture, and marine life with visitors, creating meaningful and educational experiences on every voyage. Her love for the sea extends beyond her professional life, as she enjoys swimming with whales in Tahiti, snorkeling alongside her daughters, and diving for shells in her free time.

Captain Patrick began his maritime career on Maui in 2012 and has been serving as a Captain for the past nine years, seven of which have been on Kā’anapali Beach. His journey started in Lāhainā Harbor, where he gained experience with private charter monohull sailing before transitioning to become a luxury catamaran Captain in Kā’anapali. Captain Patrick finds immense joy and satisfaction in creating memorable, awe-inspiring experiences for both visitors and locals. He believes that “the best moments in life are shared” and is eager to share unforgettable moments with you!

Captain Blake Moore is a current 100T Master Captain with extensive leadership experience in the marine tourism industry. Prior to joining Teralani Sailing Adventures in 2022, he served as Chief Operating Officer for a large marine tourism operation on Maui. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Middle Tennessee State University, is a graduate of Divers Academy of the Eastern Seaboard and is a certified ACDE/ANSI Commercial Diver. On his days off, Blake cherishes his time with his wife and three children, whom he considers his “most important job.”

Captain Ian has been in and around the ocean from an early age. Sailing out the Golden Gate at 5 years old and ending up in Florida months later shaped his life to one on water. A career in the wind sport industry designing and racing has been followed by a passion for teaching and coaching the next generation of sailors on Maui with the Lahaina Yacht Club. Ian has been working with Teralani since 2024. Starting as a crew while earning his 100 ton Master Captains license. “My favorite thing about being a Captain is sharing a day of our guest’s holiday. Being on Maui is a privilege that does not get taken for granted. If I can share a bit of that stoke with our guests, it is a day well spent.” When not working, Ian can be found in the ocean. Surfing, foiling or racing across oceans.
